I'm sharing with you some recipes from my kitchen.    I hope you enjoy them!

Orange Tofu

Introduce yourself to tofu.

This dish is delicious!

Prep Time:

20 minutes

Serves:

4 - 6

Ingredients

White rice

1 tray firm tofu, approximately 16 oz

Sesame seeds

Scallions

Base:

2 Tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic, crushed

1 tsp ginger, grated

1 tsp chili flakes

1 cup water

juice of 1 orange

2/3 cup rice vinegar

1 cup honey

3 Tbsp tomato paste

4 Tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp sea salt

4 tsp corn starch + 4 tsp water

Tofu coating: should resemble consistency of pancake batter

2 cup flour

2 Tbsp corn starch

2 tsp garlic salt

1 tsp ground black pepper

2 cup COLD soda water

Instructions

Part 1

4 preps:

 1) Put 2 cups rice in rice cooker

 2) Combine 4 tsp cornstarch with 4 tsp water, set aside

 3) Dice tofu into 1/2 inch cubes, wrap in towel to drain as much water out as possible. It is helpful to rest a heavy pan on top to maximize results

 4) Heat 2 cups vegetable oil to 350 degrees

Part 2

Make sweet orange sauce

In a wok, saute the garlic, ginger and chili 

Add the next 7 ingredients

Bring to a boil

Simmer for 10 minutes, reducing to create a thickened sauce

Part 3

Dip tofu into soda water batter

Fry in hot oil, 4 minutes or until golden brown

Drain on paper towels

It will take 4 batches to fry all the tofu using a standard pan

Stir tofu into orange sauce

Serve on rice

Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced scallions

Vegan

Tip: 

Set aside an hour to create this delicious meal. Prep is short, but all the steps require constant attention. Make sure to chop up a few green onions to top it off and give it the professional look.
